How To

How to silence your ego and enjoy the pure act of creation in 10 steps

  1. Click http://www.random.org/dice/?num=1
    • The sum of the dice are the total number of tracks you have to compose for your album.
  2. Click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
    • The title of the random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
  3. Click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php
    • The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your album.
  4. Click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
  5. Repeat step 1 to 4 until you get a satisfying result.
    • I added this because sometimes the result is simply too stupid to do something with it.
  6. Use photoshop or similar to put it all together.
    • Be as creative as you want, without revealing your true identity.
  7. Start composing in a random but unusual way.
    • e.g. the first release [lemn001] was made by silent composing, meaning sound off, visual aids were used (spectrum analyzer and osciloscope).
  8. Take a random book or magazine.
    • open it randomly, the last phrase of every third page from here on contains a track title.
  9. Send your music and albumcover to lessegomorenoise@gmail.com
    • Add a little word about how the tracks came to birth, from which book you got the titles and if you like, how it felt like to create something that soon will be out of your hands forever.
    • Less Ego More Noise does the rest.
  10. Experience detachment when your music is released.
    • Your are now one step closer to egolesness.

  3. Some clarifications need to be made on the rules.
1-The final dot of the quote is part of the rule?
2-If the article you get is something like Stan McCabe (ice hockey), you name is Stan McCabe or Stan McCabe (ice hockey)?
3-What happen if you get a real band name with considerable fame?
4-What happens if the pic you get is not a square one?
5-What happens if the random page of the book you get is near the end and you will not have enought pages to get songs?
6-What happens if some third page doenst have names on it?

    On my opinion:
    1-Yes
    2-Stan McCabe (ice hockey)
    3-You must roll everything again
4-You must download a version of the pic that each side has more than 500 pixels and remove the other parts (on paint you would go to pic attributes and change the pic to 500 and 500, this wont reize the pic just remove anything after the first 500 x 500) or if that is not possible, you need to resize it to a square after you download. And then you do the edits you want to put your album name and song name on it.
5-Get a new random page or book.
6-Get a new random page or book.

  4. Forget what I said before, the rules already solve most of what I asked.
    Answers
    1-No
1.1-The rules talks about last words, punctuaction arent words.
    2-Stan McCabe (ice hockey)
2.1-The rules talk about getting the title of the article and not the title of the thing
    3-Just rooll everything agan
3.1-The rules states you can do that, if you cant really do the album
4-Edit it to a square one and then after it continue to edit the pic
4.1-The rules allow you to edit the pic so just do it.

The only questions the rules doenst explain are 5 and 6, because according to the rules, you can only start again at step 5 and thats is before you get the random book.
on my opinion, just start everything again are the answers to 5 and 6
